BIOGRAPHY
Mackie‘s up-tempo house and electro-pop beats are top-shelf and her lyrics are just plain fun. She is British born and raised. Mackie’s mother is a Spaniard, so she weaves Spanish and English lyrics together for universal appeal. She produces all of her music herself and for this reason her music is released under the name “Cecilia Mackie on Mackie” to signify that the artist Cecilia Mackie is performing on Mackie’s own beat.
Having spent several years in New York City she has performed in too many NYC venues to count. Her performances as a singer, a pianist and a dancer have covered a variety of styles and when she plays live, she is often the musical director. Many mainstay venues have hosted her including The Bowery Ballroom, CBGBs, The Bitter End, Terra Blues and Chicago Blues. She is very experienced and has been hired to sing for some of the biggest entertainment companies in New York. Mackie’s own Latin jazz band headlined at BMG’s Christmas party. For several years she directed a six-piece band called “Cecilia Mackie and the Band” which played all styles of popular music and included hip-hop dance choreography. Cecilia Mackie and the Band performed in front of hundreds of people on Thursdays at a venue that encompassed all of Pier 66 on the Hudson River in Manhattan. Mackie also directed her own band in a weekly event at a large Latin venue in the South Street Seaport in Manhattan for several years.
Past recordings include a self-titled debut acoustic album produced by Juilliard trained arranger and producer Thomas Haas; a Latin pop record titled Simple World, which was produced by Ish Ledesma (Foxy, Krazie Bone); a stripped down self-produced Latin jazz trio EP called Man of Gold; and several singles produced by Demi Doc (Ashanti, Ja Rule and other Murder Inc. artists).
For the last several years Mackie stopped doing live performances in order to hone her music and vocal production skills and to experiment with dance and electro grooves. Now she’s back and will be releasing a series of singles that cater perfectly to the U.S. pop market. These days Mackie only releases music she has completely produced and performed herself. Mackie does the mixing and mastering too which means the music comes out of her laptop and goes straight to the radio station. The singles are accompanied by stunning artwork containing 3D renderings, hand painted illustrations, footage of live vocals and piano work, dance choreography, music videos and much much more. She also releases content relating to her sci-fi novel and her educational charity. Let’s elaborate on those two projects.
Mackie has a masters in physics and her love for the subject inspired her to create an alter-ego called the Quantum Energy Manifestation (QEM) which is featured on her artwork and merchandise. She wrote a book that is based six thousand years in the future. Here is the backdrop. It is the year 8081 and Einstein’s laws have held fast. Humans cannot travel faster than the speed of light, which has made it impossible for them to reach even the nearest star system or meet intelligent life. At this time a scientific discovery radically changes humanity’s ability to perceive and experience the universe and so the story begins.
Mackie is also an “artivist” and her content includes videos and images relating to a political organization she founded and runs, which is called We Run The House. Mackie took two years to build what could be the most sophisticated political technology platform on the market today.
